Life is slowly settling down now we've sold our house, our son has married and our entire family have moved into our respective homes. It would seem we could sit back and relax but we are both astonished at the amount of work involved in furnishing a new build home!
Curtain rails, towel hooks, light fittings were some of the essentials we had to get sorted pretty quickly but there has also been so many other decision to make like, colours textures and storage. This prompted me to start an Instagram account and document the whole journey.
My Instagram profile is still very small but I'm enjoying capturing my home in all its beautiful glory and I'm also learning so much from other home décor accounts on Instagram.
So to kick things off here's one of the first spaces we tackled.
We were struggling to find a smaller table that extended to a bigger table (it was almost like our version of small was everyone else's version of big!) So we switched strategy and started looking for large tables. By chance I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace and stumbled across a gent selling large solid oak tables that had been used to display clothing in Debenhams Department Store before it closed.
The table has a really rustic finish to which I guess wouldn't suit everyone but to me it really added to the character and made it totally unique. And as an added bonus he was selling 5 so we decided to buy a second one for the garden.
After a good clean the table smartened up perfectly for our Christmas dinner. We had six for our Christmas meal but the table will comfortably work for up to 10 for dinner thanks to our DIY benches which we made, converting two Ikea chairs into benches and upholstering them.
I hope you like what we've done so far until the next time. Stay stylish from Jen xx
